Frequently Asked Questions

Are flaxseeds a good source of omega-3s?

Flaxseed and flaxseed oil contains the omega-3 fatty acid, alpha-linoleic acid (ALA), which our body poorly converts to EPA and DHA. Krill oil is rich in nutritionally-supportive EPA and DHA and is pre-converted, highly bio-available and active, allowing your body to fully access the spectrum of nutrients that it has to offer. In a healthy person, only 15% of ALA is converted to EPA and DHA. A diet high in omega-6 fatty acids, found in corn and safflower oils can drastically reduce the body’s ability to make EPA and DHA from ALA. Health conditions such as diabetes and degenerative diseases prevent the body from completing the conversion. Taking Viva Labs Krill Oil, with its potent amounts of pre-converted EPA and DHA, allows for incredible bio-availability and rapid, noticeable benefits, without having to worry about per-conversion factors.
