Is Viva Labs Krill Oil in Ethyl-Ester or Triglyceride form?

Viva Labs Krill Oil is neither. It is delivered in the highly bioavailable phospholipid form, for maximum absorption.

Where is the astaxanthin sourced from in your krill oil?

The astaxanthin found in Viva Labs Krill Oil is naturally occurring. The astaxanthin comes from the krill eating a unique microalgae (haematococcus pluvialis) which contains this valuable antioxidant and carotenoid. A study in the Journal of Medicinal Food, found astaxanthin to be a more powerful antioxidant than any other carotenoid and even more potent than vitamin E in terms of antioxidative capacity.

Viva Labs Krill Oil is manufactured in the United States.

Does Viva Labs Krill Oil contain mercury?

How is your krill oil extracted?

Krill oil is extracted using molecular distillation. This is a refining technique that provides an extremely high concentration of the omega-3s, EPA and DHA. This process also leaves behind any possible contaminants, toxins, heavy metals and impurities.

Does krill oil contain iodine?

Viva Labs Krill Oil does not contain iodine due to our purification process. Some brands of krill oil may contain iodine if they are not fully purified. Iodine is essential for proper thyroid function. Krill oil should not be taken as a source of iodine to supplement your diet.

What are the capsules made from?

Caplique® Capsules are made from fish gelatin (tilapia).

Our krill oil is made in FDA approved facilities.

What is the extraction process of the krill oil?

Viva Labs Krill Oil is extracted using the cold press technique, this method of extraction produces a potent, pure and effective krill oil concentrate for the greatest amount of EPA and DHA.
This process allows for extraction without using any high heat. We don’t use any bleach, chemicals or other harsh refining methods which ensures the most nutrient-dense, unrefined pure oil.
The solvent that we do use is Ethanol, which is the safest way for extraction, as well during the process we measure the peroxide and p-anisidine value to monitor the stability of the product against oxidation.

What is the expiration date of your krill oil?

The current batch of Viva Labs Krill Oil expires October 2014.

Is krill oil kosher?

Krill oil is not kosher as it is a crustacean.

What is the DHA and EPA content of your krill oil?

Per serving, Viva Labs Krill Oil contains 95 mg DHA and 165 mg of EPA. This is in the highly absorbable phospholipid form for maximum potency.

Why is the fat content so high in your krill oil?

This supplement is purely essential fatty acids. There are no fillers or added water like other supplements. The type of fat that is found in Viva Labs Krill Oil is essential, meaning that your body cannot make it itself. These “good” fats promote a variety of health benefits.

Does krill oil have purines?

Whole krill are naturally high in purines which encourage a buildup of uric acid. This buildup may lead to gout or kidney stones. However, krill oil is highly purified and does not cause problems in most people. Those who have a history of gout or kidney problems should consult their health care provider before adding a krill oil supplement.
Other foods high in purines include: beef, pork, bacon, lamb, seafood, liver and kidneys. Begin by addressing dietary factors that may be contributing to kidney issues or gout and add a krill oil supplement if your health care provider feels this may help your current condition.

Is you krill oil iodine free?

Viva Labs Krill Oil does not contain iodine and should not be taken as an iodine supplement to maintain thyroid health.

Is krill oil paleo?

Yes. Viva Labs Krill Oil is paleo. Our krill oil does not contain any additional ingredients that may not be paleo-friendly. Some brands of krill oil may contain additional ingredients that are not in compliance with the paleo diet.

What is the vitamin A and D content of your krill oil?

Viva Labs Krill Oil does not contain vitamin A or vitamin D. We recommend that you speak with your doctor regarding a vitamin A or D supplement. These are fat-soluble nutrients that need to be taken supplementally with caution as too much can lead to toxicity.

Does Viva Labs Krill Oil contain any filler?

No. There are no fillers, additives, preservatives, artificial colors or flavors in Viva Labs Krill Oil.

How is the krill in your krill oil caught?

Our krill are harvested using sustainable fishing techniques that preserve biodiversity and adhere to strict environmental laws.

What are the heavy metals or toxins in krill oil?

Viva Labs Krill Oil does not contain heavy metals or toxins.

Krill are naturally very low in any heavy metals or toxins due to being both low on the food chain and coming from the pure Antarctic waters.
Some krill oils have not been through the same purification and testing process as Viva Labs Krill Oil and may contain unwanted ingredients.
