How well does krill oil absorb?

Krill oil is highly absorbed due to its phospholipid structure. Phospholipids comprise human cell walls, which makes krill oil so recognizable to the body, contrary to fish oil. Fish oil is found in the triglyceride structure which your body has to break down through enzymatic action.

What is the gelatin in your krill oil capsules?

Our capsules are composed of tilapia gelatin and are tested with every batch for impurities, consistently reporting undetectable levels.

Is it free of genetically modified organisms (GMOs)?

While our product is not certified with a third-party certifying body like Non-GMO Project, the product is free of GMOs.

Is Viva Naturals Krill Oil in Ethyl-Ester or Triglyceride form?

Viva Naturals Krill Oil is neither. It is delivered in the highly bioavailable phospholipid form, for maximum absorption.

Where is the astaxanthin sourced from in your krill oil?

The astaxanthin found in Viva Naturals Krill Oil is naturally occurring. The astaxanthin comes from the krill eating a unique microalgae (Haematococcus pluvialis) which contains this valuable antioxidant and carotenoid. A study in the Journal of Medicinal Food, found astaxanthin to be a more powerful antioxidant than any other carotenoid and even more potent than vitamin E in terms of antioxidative capacity.

What are the capsules made from?

Caplique® capsules are made from fish gelatin (tilapia).

Are the capsules enteric coated?

No. Enteric coating has not been shown to be effective in improving the absorption of desired nutrients. In fact, several studies have even shown that enteric coating has hindered the efficacy of various supplements. Our innovative Capliques technology protect our oil against the effects of oxidation and preserve its freshness. These capsules are small and easy to swallow.

Is Viva Naturals Krill Oil FDA certified?

Our krill oil is made in FDA approved facilities. Natural supplements do not require FDA approval.

What is the extraction process of the krill oil?

Viva Naturals Krill Oil is extracted using a supercritical solvent extraction. This method of extraction produces a potent, pure and effective krill oil concentrate for the greatest amount of EPA and DHA. This process allows for extraction without using high heat. We don’t use any bleach, chemicals or other harsh refining methods which ensures the most nutrient-dense, unrefined pure oil. During the process we measure the peroxide and p-anisidine values to monitor the stability of the product against oxidation.

What is the expiration date of your krill oil?

Is krill oil kosher?

Krill oil is not kosher as it is a crustacean.

What is the DHA and EPA content of your krill oil?

Per serving, Viva Naturals Krill Oil contains 95 mg DHA and 165 mg of EPA. This is in the highly absorbable phospholipid form for maximum potency.

Why is the fat content so high in your krill oil?

This supplement is purely essential fatty acids. There are no fillers or added water like other supplements. The type of fat that is found in Viva Naturals Krill Oil is essential, meaning that your body cannot make it itself. These “good” fats promote a variety of health benefits.

Does krill oil have purines?

Whole krill are naturally high in purines which encourage a buildup of uric acid. This buildup may lead to gout or kidney stones. However, krill oil is highly purified and does not cause problems in most people. Those who have a history of gout or kidney problems should consult their health care provider before adding a krill oil supplement. Other foods high in purines include: beef, pork, bacon, lamb, seafood, liver and kidneys. Begin by addressing dietary factors that may be contributing to kidney issues or gout and add a krill oil supplement if your health care provider feels this may help your current condition.

Is you krill oil iodine free?

Viva Naturals Krill Oil does not contain iodine and should not be taken as an iodine supplement to maintain thyroid health.

Is krill oil paleo?

Yes. Viva Naturals Krill Oil is paleo. Our krill oil does not contain any additional ingredients that may not be paleo-friendly. Some brands of krill oil may contain additional ingredients that are not in compliance with the paleo diet.

What is the vitamin A and D content of your krill oil?

Our krill oil contains 41967 ± 10564 I.U./100g of vitamin A and no presence of vitamin D. Each serving (2 capsules) contains 1, 250mg (1.25g) of krill oil, meaning there is no measurable amount of vitamin A per two capsules.

Does Viva Naturals Krill Oil contain any fillers?

No. There are no fillers, additives, preservatives, artificial colors or flavors in Viva Naturals Krill Oil.

Our krill are harvested using sustainable fishing techniques that preserve biodiversity and adhere to strict environmental laws. The krill are frozen immediately upon harvest in order to preserve essential nutrients and powerful compounds.
