A Healthy Life! Is it to be taken serious or not!?

When one can realize how his/ her living machinery functions, then he/she can see the change in lifestyle necessary to promote a healthy heart and holistic well-being.

The need for health education is necessary especially in regards to physiology ( a need to understand how the body works). An illustration with the human body can be linked with a vehicle for example. This is so in the sense that if the model car doesn’t receive the type of gas it needs to run properly and effectively, over a period of time, its going to break down and stop working effectively. And so it can be seen with the human body my dear reader. If the body is not given its proper necessities it will in no wise function at its utmost. The proper food- wholesome and nutritious, the exercise, the fresh air, the rest, temperance in all things, drinking of water and most of all trust in Divine Power, then the body will fail to perform its duties. And the result you may ask! Well over a period of time the body will deteriorate; physical vigor will lessen as well as mental.

Consider with me for a moment. If one takes into account that the blood is the only thing in the body that touches every organ within the body, then strides can be made in changing his/ her lifestyle to a healthy heart as well as a holistic well-being. You see, a lifestyle that is harmful to the body, and one in which indulgence is a practice or is frequent, does more evil than good. These practices overtax the digestive organs, produces a feverish state of the system and the blood becomes impure, and then diseases of various kinds occur as according to the Review and Herald, September 5, 1899:

“A lifestyle that is not practiced by true temperance will not preserve the intellect and in no wise give mental and moral vigor to the living machinery, enabling the man to bring his propensities under control. Further, the thoughts will not be clear and the ability to reason from cause to effect will be lacking for the most part.”

Now in regards to how heart health has impacted me, I’m coming along the path in making that conscientious decision on a daily basis to live that which I’m learning in regards to how the body functions in order to preserve health. Many a times people suffer from diseases and I sometimes wonder what the exact cause is however, it’s never really thought of as to how the body is treated. The body can take so much and no more and when the laws of health are disregarded, then the consequences have to be met with. I’ve learnt that all things can be gained but when all is done and especially if it’s at the expense of health, then all gain is loss. Simply being that once health is lost, it cannot be regained.

I’ve also come to the realization that educating myself in regards to heart health is necessary in order that life may be preserved. It has come to the point in time that if change must come, it must begin with me.

I tell you of a truth; it is not always easy when society is headed in one direction of indulgence and intemperance. After their cause has been met in causing these indulgences, they then try to combat them with the promotion of different medications and yet still these utterly fail. And as the saying goes, ‘Prevention is better than cure,’ but hardly ever does the individual take it to heart. Many always seem to refer to their grandparents or their great grandparents who lived to see 95 years, or even 100 years. They say nothing has happened to them so therefore nothing is wrong with what they are doing. However, we may not always see the consequences but the body has been destroyed by what it has received. All is affected by a lifestyle that does harm to the body!

Therefore, knowing how the body functions and what it needs to makes a difference and place a line of demarcation between a heart health and holistic lifestyle and that of a carefree and harmful one. Simply keep in mind, abstemiousness! Leave off that which is evil/ bad and use moderately that which is healthful. So educate yourself! It will make a difference in your life, and in the lives of others. As one old writer says, ‘Be the change you wish to see in the world.’
